Christmas Palm Tree 🎄

Merry Christmas in July! Today, we are going to do a Christmas beach scene with a palm tree, sand, and Christmas ornaments. We'll be creating using some acrylic paint, glass, seed beads, and shells. This is a great project for the summer or the holidays!

I'm going to start by painting the background. I'm using Vintage White on the bottom for the sand. I'm putting down a coat of white on the rest of my canvas and adding some blue as well. Let dry.

Grab your tracer and tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your palm tree with your stylus.

Next, we're going to paint our palm tree. I'm using Raw Umber and a little bit of white for the tree trunk. I'm painting the palm tree leaves with green paint. I just want to get the basic shape for them because we will be adding green glass leaves that I created from sheet glass. 

Feel free to decorate your palm tree however you would like! I am going to add some ball Christmas ornaments with some red paint and little "commas" of white paint. Let dry.

It's time to add details with your graphic pen. I'm outlining my ornaments and adding a hanging string. I'm also outlining my tree trunk and some short strokes in the leaves. 

Let's add glass! I'm using some tacky glue and adding one piece of glass at a time. I am adding the piece of glass on it's side to resemble a palm leaf. I'm doing two layers to add some dimension. I'm adding glass bubbles to my red ornaments. For the sand, I'm adding some Starfire glass and some small shells. For coconuts, I'm putting some pieces of bronze glass in the center of my palm tree. 

Now, we will add resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers or brush.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!

Before we finish, I'm going to add some sparkle with a little bit of snow! I'm sprinkling in some Crystal Luster seed beads to my sand.
