Cute Flower Art

I'm feeling spring, so today we are making some cute flower art with two 4 x 12 canvases! I'm also doing a little tutorial on how to create glass flower petals and I'm going over my favorite products to use for making those. This is so simple and so pretty. 

First, I'll explain how I created my flower petals. I've had this clear iridescent plate for a long time, and I'm finally going to use it to make some flowers. I just take my glass nippers and slowly go around the plate to create my petals. Then, I use my stone to dull some of those sharp edges.

Let's paint our background. I am doing took different colors - one is going to have blue paint and the other canvas is going to have some purple. Start with a coat of fresh white and then add a tiny dot of your color to spread throughout the canvas. I'm keeping it lighter at the bottom and darker at the top. Let dry.

Now it's time to place your glass onto your canvas. I'm going to do one at a time. Take your glass flower head and place that, then add your flower petals around the flower head. Feel free to stack some of the petals as well to create a layer effect. Use tacky glue if you'd like to keep your glass in place. 

Add your stem using green vitrigraph glass. Break off a piece that you like and tuck it under one of your petals. I have some green pieces of glass that I'm going to use to add some leaves. 

I also don't want my flower to look like it's just floating, so I have some clear glass that I'm going to add to the bottom of my canvas. I'll add a couple of pieces of green glass as well. 

Repeat the same process with your second canvas. I'm going to do this flower in the other direction.

Now we are going to resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 2 ounces of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. 

This is so pretty, easy, and simple! Look at the translucence from the flower petals I created from that plate!
