My sister (and many of my members!) have been begging me to do a dandelion, so I thought, "let's just go for it!" We are going to be working on a 5x7 canvas with some acrylic paint, a graphic pen, and some bronze, green, and Starfire glass. This is a simple and easy one to do!
We are going to start by painting our background white along with some Mermaid Blue. This will give us a little bit of a sky blue color. Let dry.
Next, grab your tracer and tape it to your canvas. Place your graphite paper underneath and trace your dandelion with your stylus.
Now it's time to paint! I'm using Crocodile Green and Burnt Umber. Take some of your Umber paint and dot it onto your canvas in a circle to create your dandelion center. Add some extra green dots over top. Let dry.
Most of our detail work is going to be done with our Master's Touch graphic pen. I'm going to draw on all of the little seeds, stems, and fluff of the dandelion. Hit that with your heat gun again to make sure that your ink is dry.
I want to create a white translucent effect for my dandelion, so I'm going to take a paper towel, get it a little wet, add some white paint, and dab it around my dandelion. You don't want to cover up your pen, so you just want to dab a little bit around.
I'm going to color correct that center with my green and brown paint, and also add the stem with those same colors. I'm going to add some extra stems with my palette knife too. Let dry.
I’m going to add some more white around the edge of my dandelion because I feel like that has faded a bit while drying.
Now it's time to add glass!
I'm putting some bronze and green glass in the center of my dandelion. Then, I'm just going to randomly add in some Starfire glass around my dandelion as well as on the little floating seeds. Use some tacky glue to secure the glass to your canvas.
Now we are going to resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/4 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers.
Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles.
I'm going to sprinkle a a few bubbles in my resin to fill in some bare spots, and then we're done!
Is that not cute? I love this one!
