Faith Sunflower 🌻

I've been having some fun sketching out and coloring some new fall designs - and this one is definitely one of my favorites! We are making a sunflower with "faith" as the stem and it is just so cute. We are working with an 8x10 canvas and I'll be adding some clear glass to the bottom and seed beads to the center of my sunflower.

First, we will grab the tracer, tape it to the canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace the sunflower with a stylus onto the canvas (just the flower for now, we'll do the "faith" later)

I'm painting the background with my favorite turquoise color - Desert Turquoise. I'm also mixing in some white paint and just filling in around my sunflower. Let dry. 

Next, grab your tracer again, tape it to the canvas, place the graphite paper underneath, and trace the word "faith" with your stylus.

I'm using a bright green color to paint the leaves. Then, I'm painting the petals with yellow paint - it's called Crocus. 

I'm adding a little bit of Marigold paint and Toasted Terracotta to add some dimension to the flower petals. 

I'm going to paint the center of my sunflower with Burnt Umber as well as some blue paint. (It will go perfectly with the seed beads)

Then, I'm adding some dimension to my leaves with dark green and white paint.

Next, I'm going to paint the "faith" with black paint. Let dry.

Now I'm going to add some details with my graphic pen. I'm adding short strokes outlining my flower petals, leaves, and "faith".

Now it's time to add glass! I'm adding tacky glue to the center of my sunflower. Then, I'm using seed beads - these are called "The Sea" with some blue and brown pieces. I'm also adding clear glass to the bottom of my canvas.

Now, we will add resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers or brush.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
