Let's bring to life a lovely field of poppies! With a vibrant abstract background and the playful addition of orange and red buttons, this project is sure to add a touch of whimsy to your space. What makes this tutorial extra special is that it requires no tracer, making it perfect for beginners. Whether you're just starting out or looking for a fun and relaxing project, you'll find this tutorial accessible and enjoyable.
I'm going to add some painter's tape across my canvas about 2/3 of the way from the bottom. Then, I'll paint the bottom portion of my canvas with Plantation Pine, Hauser Green Light, Antique Gold, and white. Dry with a heat tool.
I'll paint the top portion of my canvas with Shoreline blue paint. Then, I'll take some white paint, lay my brush down, and wiggle it to create clouds. Dry with a heat tool.
Next, I'm going to paint some poppy flowers in the distance on my field. I'm going to take my mop brush, dip it in Tiger Lily orange paint and Primary Red paint, and dab it along my field. I'll use a liner brush with the Plantation Pine and water to create blades of grass. I'll start at the bottom of my canvas and pull the paint up. I'll also use my mop brush to dab on more green paint around the grass.
I'm going to use a small round brush with Tiger Lily paint and add little blobs throughout my field. I'll also do the same with Primary Red. You can also use a dotting tool for this. You should be really random with these dots, going back and forth between red and orange. Dry with a heat tool.
I am going to add resin to my canvas and then I'll add my buttons and glass.
We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/2 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers or brush.
I have two packs of buttons from Amazon - orange and red. These packs come in lots of sizes and variety, and they have been so much fun to add to my art projects recently. I'll use smaller buttons at the top and larger buttons toward the bottom and just layer them onto my canvas. I'll also add green glass on the bottom of my canvas.
Drizzle some additional resin on top of your buttons and glass. I'll sprinkle some Transparent Red seed beads onto my flowers. I also have some small pieces of green vitrigraph that I'll add in to create some flower stems too. The sky needs a little something, so I'm going to nip off four pieces from some white sheet glass to create a couple of birds.
Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
