Foil Pumpkin 🎃

Looking for a one-of-a-kind pumpkin project this fall? We're creating a bold, wild, and totally fun foil pumpkin art piece that combines a mix of vibrant foils, metallic paints, and glass and resin. I’m here to walk you through every step - from tracing your pumpkin to adding those stunning foils and finishing off with a glossy resin coat.

Start by painting your canvas with two coats of black acrylic paint. Then, lightly sand it with sandpaper to create a smooth finish. Let dry.

Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place white graphite paper underneath, and trace your pumpkin with a stylus.

Decide where to place each type of foil on your pumpkin. I will apply a leopard print foil to two different sections, so I'll paint those with Metallic Black acrylic paint. I'll paint the rest of my pumpkin sections with a mix of Metallics Pearl Fruit Punch, Metallics Peacock Pearl, Scarlet (orange), and white paint. I'll also paint the stem with Metallics Festive Green. Dry with a heat tool.

Let's add our foil! Cut a small section of leopard print foil. Grab a small paintbrush and apply foil adhesive to your black pumpkin sections. While that is drying, apply the adhesive to your stem too.

Once dry, lay the leopard print foil over the black pumpkin section and smooth it down with your fingers. Peel the foil up and it should transfer onto your canvas! Do this same thing for your other black section. I'll also apply green leopard print foil to the stem.

I'll apply a little bit of adhesive to different areas of my pumpkin sections where I would like just solid pink foil. This is more of a distressed look and I love it! I'll do the same thing for pink leopard print foil, lagoon blue foil, and groovy kaleidoscope foil.

I'll also paint a little bit of the Metallic Black paint around some of my foiled pumpkin sections to create some shadow and dimension. I'll do the same thing with white paint for some highlights.

For glass, I'm just going to add some Starfire glass to the bottom of my canvas. I also added a piece of a mermaid fin bead from Michael's for the leaf - use what you have!

We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/2 oz total of ArtResin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your glass and canvas and use your gloved fingers or brush to spread it over the entire canvas.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times! Finally, I'll sprinkle Crystal Luster seed beads along the top of my pumpkin sections and in my Starfire glass.
