Game Day 🏈
In this tutorial, we're creating a fun football-themed glass art project! We'll start by painting a vibrant green field, then add details like a football and field lines. I'll show you how to mix colors, trace your design, and finish it off with some sparkly glass pieces and resin. Whether you're new to this or have some experience, this is a great way to try out some new techniques and create something amazing!
Start by painting the bottom of your canvas with Holly Green. Add two coats to your canvas, and dry it with a heat tool between coats. I'll also blend in a little bit of white paint.
Next, I'll paint the top part of my canvas with Holly Green mixed with white paint to create a lighter green. I'll also dab in some darker green on top to create some dimension. Dry with a heat tool.
Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace the football, field lines, and upright with a stylus.
Paint the football and the upright with Espresso Brown. Add subtle highlights to the upright by blending in white paint. Apply a second coat of brown to the football, and while it's still wet, blend in some white for highlights. Use white paint to add stripes to the football. Dry the paint using a heat tool.
Grab your tracer again, tape it to the canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace the football stitching with your stylus. Add a second coat of white to the football stripes and paint the stitching as well. Dry with a heat tool.
Use a white Posca paint pen to sketch the field lines. I'll use a black Posca pen to add some outlines and details to the upright and football.
Write the words "Roll Tide" in the right corner of your canvas with the black Posca pen. (If you are a part of the membership, you'll have a tracer for these words if you would rather trace them onto the canvas.) And of course, you can add whatever team name or slogan you would prefer.
Let's add glass! For the upright, I have amber glass strips that I will score and cut to size. Use whatever glass or strips that you have. Apply tacky glue to your canvas and place the strips on their edge along the upright. I'll also add Starfire glass to the bottom side of the football.
We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/2 oz total of ArtResin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your glass and canvas and use your gloved fingers or brush to spread it over the entire canvas.
Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times! Finally, I'll sprinkle acrylic bubbles to create "people" in the crowd,
