Lace Heart Trio 💕
I am using an 8x16 canvas to create a trio of hearts! I am using a stencil to paint the first heart, adding foil and beads to my second heart, and adding glass to the last heart. This is very simple to make - especially if you have a few stencils in your stash! This is also a fun way to explore different embellishments, like foil, glass, and seed beads in your artwork.
Let's start by painting our background! I am using pink paint, teal paint, and white paint. Start by applying a coat of white to the entire canvas, then add the teal towards the top and the pink toward the bottom. I like keeping my strokes messy and random, blending the colors together where they meet. Dry with a heat tool.
Add your first heart using pink paint. I'll also blend in some white for highlighting. Then, grab your lace stencil, tape it to the canvas on top of your heart, and use a stencil brush to apply red paint. Dip your brush into the red, swirl some off onto a paper towel, and apply your paint in a circular motion. I'll also pounce on some white paint. Dry with a heat tool.
My next heart is going to be the foil one, which I will overlap and tilt to the side a little bit. I'm using a piece of foil that is a mix of gold, teal, and pink. First, start by tracing your stencil and painting your heart with black paint. This way if some of the foil doesn't transfer, black will be showing through. Dry with a heat tool and let cool.
Apply a layer of foil adhesive to your heart with a paintbrush. Let this dry for about a minute. Take your foil, lay it down on top of your heart, and press down with a stencil brush in a circular motion. Peel your foil up and it should stick to your canvas.
Finally, take your last small heart stencil and trace your heart onto your canvas. I'm going to paint this one with gold paint. Dry with a heat tool and add a second coat of paint.
Take your graphic pen and add some outline lines to your hearts.
Let's add beads and glass! I'll paint on some tacky glue to my foil heart and sprinkle on Berry Lined Light Topaz seed beads and Seafoam Lined Crystal seed beads from Hobby Lobby. Then, I'll add gold glass to my gold heart.
We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 2 ounces of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your glass and spread it onto your canvas using your gloved fingers or brush.
Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
