Mardi Gras Crown 👑

Today we will be creating a fun Mardi Gras themed art piece with some acrylic paint, glass, beads, and more! We'll be using the traditional Mardi Gras colors, painting a crown, and adding actual Mardi Gras beads to our canvas. This one is so fun to make and I loved the way it came out!

I am going to paint an ombre background with purple, white, and green paint. I am using a 1-inch flat brush and going to paint each third of the canvas, and blend them together. I'll also paint the sides of my canvas. Let dry. 

Grab your tracer, tape it to the canvas, place transfer paper underneath, and trace your crown with a stylus onto the canvas. I am going to put my crown at a slight angle. 

I'm using a 1/4 brush to paint my crown with Antique Gold. Let dry and add a second coat of gold. Then, I'll take a small palette knife and apply some purple to the back of it as well as some green and white paint. I'll also add a little bit of shadows and highlights with black and white paint. Let dry.

Take your graphic pen and add some details. I will just loosely outline my crown with short strokes. 

Now, we are going to add glass! I have some colored flat floral beads in greens, gold, and purple. I'll add those to the tips of my crown. I'll also cut some Mardi Gras bead necklaces and add those to the crown too. 

Next, we will add resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/2 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of the resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers or brush.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!

Then, I'll sprinkle some gold seed beads on my canvas as well as some glass bubbles.
