Sunflower Gnome 🌻
We are working on a 4x12 canvas and creating a super cute sunflower gnome! I will show you how I paint this gnome from start to finish, and then we'll be adding some yellow glass sunflower petals as well as some amber-colored glass to our flower center. This is a great fall art piece to create this season!
Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your gnome onto your canvas with a stylus.
First, I am going to start by painting his hat with Hauser Green. Then, I'll use a lighter green on the bottom part of his hat. Add a second coat to both colors.
Then, paint his shoes with black paint and his beard with white paint. Then, I'm going to mix together some black paint and white paint to create a gray color, and apply that to the gnome's beard as well.
Paint the nose with Cool Bisque, which is a peachy skin tone color. Then, I'm going to add some detail work to the hat with some black paint and some white paint to add those shadows and highlights. I'll do the same on his nose.
Finally, I'm going to add a cute little yellow patch his hat.
I'm going to add white paint to my background and just blend in some yellow paint too. Then, I'm going to take a graphic pen and add some detail lines around my gnome and in his beard.
Now, let's add glass! I used wheeled nippers to cut flower petals out of some yellow sheet glass. I'm going to lay my petals onto my canvas, add a little bit of glue on top, and layer a few smaller petals over that. Then, fill that middle with some tacky glue and add some small amber-colored glass.
We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix our resin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers or brush.
Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
