XOXO Heart 💗

Let's create a stunning heart painting that shimmers with color and texture! This project combines bold reds and pinks, soft blended backgrounds, and sparkling glass accents to bring your artwork to life. Whether you're making it for Valentine’s Day or just want to add a little extra love to your decor, this step-by-step tutorial will guide you through the process. 

Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your heart with a stylus.

Next, we'll work on painting our heart. I'm going to start by painting one half of the heart with Cherry Red, the middle of the heart with Dragonfruit Pink, and the other half of the heart with Poodleskirt Pink and white to create a blended ombre effect on the heart. Dry with a heat tool. Add a second coat using the same technique and dry again.

Then, I’ll add some gold accents around the edges of the heart using Dazzling Metallics Splendid Gold. For the background, I’ll start with white paint and blend in Lost Lagoon (a soft blue), adding a bit more blue around the edges of the canvas. Once it’s dry, I’ll go back and add another layer of color to the heart, using the same paints along with a bit of Spiced Pumpkin for extra depth.

This part is all about having fun - blend the colors, make it messy, and create an abstract heart that you love!

To finish, I’ll use a black Posca Pen to loosely outline the heart with scribbly strokes and add “XOXO” in the bottom left corner. Then, I’ll use a gold Posca Pen to add some detail lines around the heart for a little extra shine.

Next, I'll add some color to the canvas edges. Add stripes with Dragonfruit Pink around the entire outer edge and blend in a swipe of Cherry Red onto each stripe. Dry with a heat tool. Once dry, use your gold Posca Pen to outline each stripe. I'll also use the side of the marker to hit the rounded edge of the canvas to finish it off.

Add Starfire Glass to your heart, which will really let those colors pop. Next, we're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Put on rubber gloves. Mix 1/2 oz total of ArtResin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your glass and canvas and use your gloved fingers or brush to spread it over the entire piece.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
