You and Me Heart ❤️

I am using a small 6x6 canvas to create a heart art piece. We'll be painting the background and adding glass pieces that I have cut from a glass globe. We'll form the glass into a heart and paint the words "you & me" for a cute little Valentine's Day art project. I'll explain how I make this from start to finish!

Start by painting your canvas with one coat of Metallic White paint. Then, we will create our heart!

I had a glass globe that I literally whacked with a hammer because it's pretty thick. Then, I cut off some smaller pieces to create my heart halves. When you're cutting something round, you want to cut from the inside, not the outside, so you can follow that curve. 

I used a scoring tool to cut a line and then used my breaking pliers to break that piece off. Then, I grabbed my wheeled nippers and nipped off any glass to create the two ovals for my heart. Use a honing stone to dull the sharp edges of your glass.

Before we add our glass and resin, we are going to transfer the words "you & me" on our canvas. Tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace the words onto your canvas with a stylus. You can either use a black archival marker to fill in your words or a liner brush with watered down black acrylic paint. This will make it flow nicer. 

Remove your glass and then we will add the pieces back on after we resin, so we can get our canvas covered.

Mix 1/2 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Using your fingers, cover your glass pieces with resin both inside and outside and place them onto your canvas. Then, drizzle some more resin on top of your glass. 

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
