Today, we're diving into a fun fall art project perfect for the season - creating a textured pumpkin on an 8x8 canvas using paint, decoupage, and glass! We'll start by prepping the canvas with rustic decoupage paper and adding a colorful, textured background. We'll embellish it with glass details like clear vase nips and crushed glass for that extra sparkle!
Apply a coat of Mod Podge to your 8x8 canvas and lay your rustic decoupage paper on top. Smooth it down with your hands and dry it with a heat tool. Add another coat of Mod Podge on top to seal the background. Tear off any excess paper and dry again.
Paint the edges of your canvas with Americana Red Spice. I'll also blend in Traditional Burnt Umber for a more messy and textured look. Dry with your heat tool. I'll come in with a 1/4-inch brush and add some spots of Spa Blue paint on the edges too.
I want to create a surface for my pumpkin to sit on. About an inch above the bottom of your canvas, use a sponge brush to...
Transform a simple flower pot into a stunning piece of art with our latest tutorial! In this project, I'll show you how to create beautiful blue flowers with a unique background using stencil and antiquing techniques. You'll learn how to add napkin art to craft the flower pot, then enhance it with blue glass flowers, seed beads, and a glossy resin finish. This tutorial is perfect for beginners and packed with tips and tricks to master various techniques.
First, I'm going to create the napkin art that I will add to the flower pot. Take your tracer and place it on top of your napkin (I am using a blue floral napkin), place graphite under your tracer, and trace the pot with a stylus. Cut the flower pot out of the napkin and separate the plys until you just have the top layer of napkin art.
Set this aside. We will decoupage after we paint the background.
Paint your background with a coat of white paint. Then, I'll add Desert Turquoise in a circular motion towards the left of my...
Today, I am showing you how to mix a glazing medium to tone and antique your art piece! You will need a measuring cup, glazing medium, Burnt Umber acrylic paint, and a piece of an old t-shirt.
Pour 1 ounce of glaze into your cup and then mix in 1 teaspoon of your Burnt Umber color. Test your color and add more if you'd like. I'm going to add a 1/2 teaspoon more. Now it's time to apply the mix to your piece!
If you are new to this, work in sections! Just add your color to your canvas. Don't go slow - your time to remove and blend this is limited. Get it on as fast as you can before it starts to dry.
Take your t-shirt piece and just wipe it straight down. Remove all of that excess glaze. Wipe in one direction - not up and down, or side to side.
Do one section at a time and repeat for your entire art piece. For my piece, I'm doing all of the outside texture as well as the door. For my bottom section, I'm wiping in one direction - left to right.
And that's it!...
